So the word is out, the main event of our 10th Anniversary Weekend has been announced and it’ll take place at Metro in Chicago on Saturday, October 25th. Tickets are a mere $24 (and can be bought here, ahem!).

I wanted to do a bit of a Q&A to answer any questions some of y’all might have about the weekend. If you wanna follow up or contribute, I’m gonna make a thread in the forum and we can suss it out. Take it to the message board, gang!

Q: HOW MANY BANDS ARE WE TALKIN’ ABOUT, TOUGH GUY?

A: While we love all the bands on Red Scare, we had to limit it to “core” bands that have done at least one full-length and one other release. By our count, that’s 17 bands. We think there should be 12-14 bands on this main Metro show, so that’s like 2 bucks a band. Sweet, right?

Q: HA HA, YEAH RIGHT. 12-14 BANDS ON ONE SHOW? HOW ARE YOU GONNA PULL THAT OFF?

A: I appreciate your concern, pal, but labels are infamous for spending money on dumb shit, at least this is for a kickass party that the bands and show-goers will appreciate. This will cost the label and couple/few thousand clams on flights and whatnot, but it’s worth it. Pay us back with high-fives and smiles. And yeah, I’ll say it: we’re gonna get a keg or two. Clive Davis or Jimmy Iovine never thought of that shit…

Q: WAIT A GODDAMN SECOND, YOU SHIFTY SUMBITCH. THAT’S LIKE 8 HOURS OF AMAZING ROCK BANDS…WILL THERE BE “INS AND OUTS” AT THE CLUB?

A: Calm down, sheesh. YES, there will be ins/outs that day at Metro. It’s pretty special circumstances and we’re stoked that they’re working with us on this. You rascals will have to behave though, alright? I assume when you’re asking about “ins and outs” you mean the building? Because that could be interpreted… never mind, you will have access to food and fresh air, of course.

Q: WHAT OTHER “SPECIAL” STUFF COULD POSSIBLY BE GOING ON ANYHOW?

A: Man, why are you being such an asshole with these questions? Oh wait, *I’m* writing the questions?! Weird. Yeah, we will probably have some side shows and they will probably be at Gman Tavern. There might be a movie or two involved as well. It’s six months away and we’re still planning, but we wanted to give our friends from Australia and Europe time to get over here.

Q: SORRY, I GET CARRIED AWAY. HOW CAN I HELP?

A: Funny you ask! I was thinking of introducing the “Red Scare Adopt A Band Program” for the weekend. Normally when bands come through Chicago they stay on our floor and couches, but there’s too many for this glorious weekend. Do you have a clean and quiet place to stay and can you cart around a buncha helpless, horny band folk? Then get at me, cuz we need your help housing these beautiful artists. Or better yet, maybe you have a hotel hookup or wanna donate a room for the cause? Now we’re talkin’! Definitely get ahold of me then!

Q: IS DAVID FUCKING JONES GONNA BE THERE?

A: Depending on who you ask, DJ might very well be the first artist on Red Scare. Be a real shame if he wasn’t in attendance. Smart money says yes, but we don’t wanna spoil any subsequent announcements, ya dig?
