As you can see we’re toiling away on the world’s greatest website, but we wanted to bring you up to speed on recent events. 2024 was a banger, eh? Insert fire emoji, etc etc. We began with a7” EP from Broadway Calls. They even got some cool tour PR too, which is much deserved. (Cheers, Ida!) Then we did a 7” with Chicago legends, Sludgeworth. Two new rad tunes, and those headbangers at Lambgoat premiered a video for “Together Not Together”. First Red Scare artist covered by a metal site! Insert pentagram emoji, etc etc.
Then came Summertime and a buncha fun punk shows. Ya see, in 2024, Red Scare turned 20 years old. Hold your applause. In honor of this regrettable milestone, we rolled out a collection (20 Years of Dreaming And Scheming) with 17 unreleased songs. Bullshittin’ aside, it’s actually a great comp and anyone with any decent taste loved it. Perhaps you’ve heard of DIY fanzine, Rolling Stone? They premiered a song/video from Laura Jane Grace. Kerrang! premiered a new one from The Menzingers, Stereogum did a write-up, BrooklynVegan dropped a new vid from Cobra Skulls where Devin is prancing around in an abandoned diner… you get the idea: it was a banner year for THE GOOD GUYS. (FYI, we are the good guys.) We also did some bday showcases in Vegas, Chicago, New Orleans, Seattle, and more. Much love to anyone who came to the party.
We finished strong with one more release Red Lanterns – The Third EP from Arms Aloft. Seth even built a video for it! We’ll have a physical 7” up for this thing soon, so look for that in 2025. What else? A cool release for Record Store Day, new music from Elway and Sam Russo and The Methadones and… well, come back and see. There will be a new site and new music! (Eggplant emoji, etc etc.)
Funny story, actual Ruskies hacked our site (some comrades they are!) and deleted recent news and other stuff. Best guess it was because we are not big fans of their invasion. Or any invasion for that matter… But rest assured, friends, we are still here and still the most vital punk label around. Even the Ruskies agree with that.
We are working on a new website and some other fun shit for our 20-year anniversary in 2024, so stay tuned on the socials, y’all!
We know you’ve come to rely on us for providing the best punk records, AND I’LL BE DAMNED, we’ve done it again, Comrades. We started the year off with a new one from Elway and folks love it. To borrow a phrase: people are saying! They even made a video of Laika the Space Dog then went on tour with The Holy Mess (and, uhhh, that got pretty loose, as you can imagine). The band is gonna play more shows, so give these new hits a spin.
After that we released the Acid Lord EP from Massachusetts newcomers, No Trigger. Their video for “Antifantasy” is maybe one of the finest visuals you’ll see outside of those websites with all the gruntin’ and groanin’. This teaser EP is a set-up for their first new record in 10 years: Dr. Album, which comes out on August 26th. The band is set to play Riot Fest, Punk In Drublic, The Fest, and a bunch more. These guys aren’t fucking around and these songs aren’t either. Pre-order that thing and enjoy the contact high.
Then we have the Red Scare debut from SACK. Kody Lillington has a party punk alter ego and those maniacs have songs about waterslides, and bongs, and LARPing. It is a wacky record full of laughs and shredding. Better yet, they’re doing some touring with Lagwagon too! Shotgun a Schlitz and click here to listen to Ripper!.
What else? Well, if you read through all this bullshit, you deserve a sneak preview… The Bollweevils new album has been recorded and is just about done. Those PNW punks, Broadway Calls, just tracked a few jams. The Brokedowns have a new record on the way and we know one of the songs is called “Honk If You’re Horny”, so that’s a good sign. Minnesota’s Tightwire are just about done with their sophomore LP and it’s rad to hear Noelle (of Rational Anthem) on these new songs now that she’s joined the band. So that’s all the insider secrets… happy now? Yeah you are. But just wait ’til you HEAR all this dope new shit. Stay tuned, Comrades!
