Major update on the bands, m’dawg.

An update on Halloween? Damn tootin’. We have a lot of loose ends to tie up around here so let’s get on with it…

As you know, The Brokedowns Species Bender was released last month. In case you missed it or are too much of a sissy to buy it already, our homies at Punknews are streaming a buncha songs from the album here. Plus, I heard they “have a 30-pack backstage”, which brings me to our next item of business…

Thanks to all who came out and took part in the 5th Annual Red Oktoberfest. It was one for the ages, eh? Great turnout and all the bands were great. Don’t believe me, do ya? Well, tough guy, I captured a buncha live footage and buffoonery on a Flip cam and you can see it all here.

And finally some shit you may care about: We got a few new bands and releases to discuss. Some of the details we are still working out, but I can say that we have a couple neat releases from some Red Scare favorites in the works. Their initials might be T.B.R. and M.E.N.Z.I.N.G…aww fuck it, you get the idea. In addition to that, we have some new blood you may or may not have heard of: a proper full length from Reaganomics (titled Lower The Bar) and a digital EP from The Bombpops, a female-fronted, So-Cal punk band outta San Diego. We’ll have their digital-only EP (dubbed Like I Care) available through online retailers on November 30th, and Reaganomics should be ready for consumption by January. More to come about all that crap.

Alright, time to get back to the pagan ceremonies and bag-snatchin’. Talk soon.

The Brokedowns post new songs and tour dates!

We’ve been talkin’ up this record for a while and it’s time to deliver, kids. The Brokedowns new album is entitled Species Bender and it’ll be available through digital retailers like iTunes and Amazon on September 7th and it’ll be in proper record stores on September 14th.

What you need to know NOW is that they have posted two new songs over at The Brokedowns MySpace. Soon-to-be-putrid-basement-classics like “Celebrity Death Panel” and “I’m A Ritual”. Hits, I tell ye! We’re super, super stoked on this new record, so hopefully you’ll check out these new songs and be compelled to dance around like we do. Close the curtains first though, cuz I’ve seen many of you dance.

In related news, The Brokedowns have also posted a string of dates around the album’s release, including a wild record release party at Ronny’s in Chicago. You can learn about them and many other shows over in the tour dates section. Dust off your dick and get out to a rock show, eh?!

Holy website!

Now that 2010 is here we figured we better get up on this whole internet craze. Our old site was pretty laughable, but this new one (also laughable) at least has album info, tour dates, an online store, a message board, etc. A big, BIG debt of gratitude goes out to Sean from ILC for being so helpful and patient with this new site.

I’m stoked that we have a complete discography in the “RELEASES” section; and in the spirit of good ol’ fashioned punk rock community, we’ve set up a forum that has a book club and a section (The Red Army) about how you can help promote Red Scare bands and get involved in the label. We’ll see how that shit works out, but I figure it’s worth trying to bring some people together that share a mutual interest in these silly bands.

We also have a Red Scare webstore and we’re selling all CDs for $8 or less. With very reasonable shipping rates too, I might add! After a few weeks we’re probably gonna bump the price all the way up to 9 bucks, so take advantage of these wild and crazy prices while you can.

So this is it: redscare.net v2.0. Have a look around.
