Sundowner’s Four One Five Two was an important record for Red Scare and after years of laziness and bullshitting, we finally are doing the album justice and releasing it on vinyl. It’ll be a limited run with an official street date of August 9th, but if you wanna get your grubby mitts on it early, you need to come down and join us for the “LP Release Party” on July 9th. We all know about his love for the Islands, so what better place for Chris to play this show than at a tiki bar that looks more like…the inside of a B of A? You guessed right: it’s our first Red Scare Presents show in the Volcano Room; which is the upstairs at Bottom Lounge. Their tropical drinks are still a work in progress, but they have an outdoor patio with a sweet view of the Chicago skyline that will be AWESOME in July. RSVP for the party here. UPDATE: For the poor saps that missed the show, you can still get the LP here through Interpunk.
So in the immortal words of Cyrus, “Can you dig it?!?”

Bet your ass we’re stoked. Looks like The Copyrights are the first band on our young label to give us three proper studio albums. Congratulations? Condolences? Either way, I have heard some of these songs and this shit really, really rips. They’re not the Ramonesy pop-punk band they used to be, but their latest tunes still have the melodies, huge choruses, and great lyrics you expect from these Midwestern party boys. Man, we love this fucking band. So yeah, we’re proud to announce that their next record will be out August 9th and the 14-song album is called North Sentinel Island and was produced by the band and Matt “Man, I need a haircut” Allison. That’s almost three months away and while we’re putting the finishing touches on NSI we’ll be releasing, Crutches, a teaser 7″ and digital 45 that will be out in late June. That’ll feature the hit single “Crutches” and some cool, exclusive demo tracks on the B-side. That stuff should give listeners some neat insights on what to expect from the impending full length.
We’re once again teaming up with our comrades from It’s Alive Records to bring you The Copyrights vinyl. If you don’t know about IAR, you better get up to speed: They’re like our label but with better music, better packaging, and a lot less bullshit and shenanigans. They’ll be bringing you the North Sentinel Island 12″ and the Crutches 7″. Bitchin’, eh?
So that’s the big scoop with The Copyrights and their new album. They’ll be doing their first music video and some legit touring this Summer and Fall in support of all this stuff, so it’s an exciting time for those downstate hayseeds. There’s been a lot of chatter about this highly-anticipated release, so stay tuned as the details unfold. The Copyrights also just started their own Twitter account, so look into that if you’re interested in their unique brand of grammar and spelling.
